M E Chowdhury was born in Dhaka. He studied at Dhaka College, the Department of English at Dhaka University, Charles University in Prague, and the State University of New York, USA. From 1996 to 2004, he worked at IBM Corporation in New York, USA.
In 2005, he founded MARS Solutions Limited, an IT/ITES company. As the Founder and Managing Director, he has made significant contributions to the IT sector. He is also a founding member of the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) and was elected Senior Vice President for the 2024–2027 term. He further served as a Director of the Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing (BACCO) and is also a Director of AMZ Hospital Limited. In addition, he serves as the current Managing Director & CEO of NRB Jobs Ltd. and NRB Xpress Ltd. He was formerly the Founder and CEO of Prothom Alo Jobs. Additionally, he is awaiting the launch of both NRB Bazaar Limited and Joshua Collection, where he will serve in the same role of Managing Director & CEO.
Alongside his entrepreneurial ventures, Chowdhury is a well-known social worker. Upon returning to Bangladesh in 2004, he launched a lifelong dream project— founding the Ethics Club Bangladesh Society. Established with the aim of promoting ethical values across all walks of life, the club has grown into a national movement with units across the country, organizing year-round educational and awareness programs. A cornerstone of this initiative is the annual observation of Ethics Day on January 25. Under his leadership, this day has been consistently celebrated for over 15 years, growing from a national event into an internationally recognized occasion. It serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness and encourage the practice of ethics in personal, professional, and social spheres.
He has also founded several socio-cultural organizations, and currently serves as the Founder and President of the Scholars Bangladesh Society, the Center for NRB Foundation, the NRB-PBO Club Limited, the NRB-PBO Conference Dhaka, NS Publishers, and the School of Performing Arts in New York.
Chowdhury organized the NRB-PBO Conferences for the first time in Dhaka in 2005, 2007, and 2009 to connect Non-Resident Bangladeshis and People of Bangladeshi Origin for the country’s development. The 2007 and 2009 conferences were held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. He also organized the first NRB-PBO Literature and Culture Conference in 2024, supported by Bangla Academy. His tireless advocacy for NRBs led the Government of Bangladesh to declare 30 December as Jatio Probashi Dibosh (NRB Day), a national day of the country in Bangladesh
Beyond technology and community service, Chowdhury is a globally recognized manga writer, winning the Bronze Medal in the 17th International Manga Competition, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan in 2023. He is also an accomplished writer, columnist, and publisher. An IT specialist by profession, Chowdhury is widely recognized for his active role in promoting Bengali culture worldwide. His leadership and dedication have earned him multiple accolades, including Proclamation from THE COUNCIL CITY OF NEW YORK in 2004 for his outstanding service to the Bangladeshi community. He is also a life member of Bangla Academy, Dhaka.
