Professor Saleh is a world-renowned Bangladeshi-Canadian statistician,author and teacher was born in Dhaka,Bangladesh .He is a Distinguished Research Professor and Professor Emeritus at the school of Mathematic & Statistics,Carleton University,Ottawa .Last December 26-27,2008 Bangladeshi statisticians organized an International Statisical Conference to honor him under the auspices of NorthSouth and Carleton Universities for his his profound contribution in the statistical sciences.Chief guest Dr.Salehuddin Ahmed

Dr.Saleh is the only Bangladeshi to hold the rank of Fellow of the Institte of Mathematical Statistics(IMS).He is the first Bangladeshi to hold the rank of Fellow of American statistical Association(ASA) and is a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences(BAS),Fellow of Royal Statistical Society,Elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI)and holds the rank of Honorary Member of the Statistical society of Canada (SSC).
He is the founder of the Graduate Studies program in Mathematics& Statistics at Caleton University having mentored and graduated 12 Ph.D's,dozen of post doctorals and 20 Masters students in this program .He has published more than 150 scholarly and pioneering papers in many leading journals.

After about 3 years of postdoctoral study with Professor Jack Halpern at the University of Chicago, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as an Assistant Professor. Anwar Shahjahan was born in 1973 in Dhakadakshin under Golapgonj thana in Sylhet. His fathers name Hazy Md Abdul Mutlib and mothers name Mrs Anjumonara Begum who is well known and loved in the village. Anwar is now married and is a father of a two son.

Anwar was a well known and popular person in his college Dhakadakshin. His main interest was writing from a very early age. He first wrote poetry in school that was published in magazines and newspapers which encouraged him to carry on with his writing. His first poetry book was published in 1993.

He was the first person to write a book on the history of Goulupgonj thana, which was well loved by people in Bangladesh and overseas. At present Anwar Shahjahan has wrote five books and currently is working on his next book that is on the history of “Bangladeshi in Britain”.

Anwar was journalist in Bangladesh. He was editor of monthly “Proboho” and monthly “Jonotar Michil” newspaper (1992-1995) and also staff reporter of daily Sylhet Bany, correspondent daily Khobor group (Dhaka). He is the founder of Golupgonj press club.

Anwar Shahjahan arrived in England in 1995. He is now associated with other businesses including printing and publishing. He is also the editor and director of the popular Bangali news monthly London Bichitra, which is published from London and distributed throughout the Britain and Bangladesh.
