Foreword
They say activism runs through your blood; that you are born to struggle, but never a victim of it. My father's book is not the story of a single young man, but rather the story of an entire generation who lived only to fight for their independence.
Today, I stand giving truth to that prophecy as an activist, and realize how grateful I am to be able to fight, when thousands of young men and women gave their lives only so I could say that I am a Bengali.
The most significant moments in history came not at the hands of a few great heroes but rather through the collaborative actions of an entire generation. They were ordinary people just like you and I. But they, were simply pushed much too far.
Though we still live in a world riddled with corruption, greed, and social unrest, there is a certain peace in knowing that in times of dire consequences, we as human beings are capable of making even the impossible possible.
Mr. Belal Beg and I put forth a great deal of effort in translating and editing my father's book so that both New Generation Bengalis and non-B engalis could learn about the unique history that belongs to Bangladesh .
This is a chronicle of my father's life. It is an account of generation. It is a story of the universal human struggle.. .the struggle for freedom.
